SAIL FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

The FAQ below is outdated, it was prepared for an earlier planned launch of SAIL. However, it provides an idea of what SAIL might look like when offered in the future.

What subjects do you plan to offer coaching for?

Answer:

Full-time coaching (8am-3pm, all days excpt holidays):

Core Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science
(we may add Biology, Electronics, Psychology, or Education based on demand)

Languages: Sanskrit, English (optional)

SAIL Compulsory Subjects: Sanskrit or Carnatic Music (every student MUST TAKE one of these two subjects)

SAIL does not plan to offer individual subjects for coaching; SAIL offers a complete package of subjects suitable for Class 11/12.

Will your coaching be sufficient for Class 12 Board Exam?

Answer:

Yes, our unified syllabus and coaching will enable the student to appear for any Board exam (PUC, CBSE, NIOS, etc) as well as the entrance exams CET/IIT-Main/IISER.

Your regular coaching time clashes with school/college timetable, how can a student attend it?

Answer:

Our regular coaching timetable is suitable for students doing their class 11 and 12 through modern Open Schooling systems. We do not allow students registered for PUC/CBSE/ICSE to attend our regular coaching classes. They may join for weekend coaching if offered. It is mandatory for all students to submit a copy of their class 11/12 registration/admission proof to us.

What is Home Schooling or Open Schooling? Why do you recommend it?

Answer:

Home Schooling is adopted in the West by parents who want to coach their children in innovative ways that go above and beyond what is possible in regular schools/colleges. In India such home schooling is beginning to gain foothold among parents, see all the information below.

Home schooling students in India can choose to write the Class 10/12 Board Exams administered by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), click here for their website.

The NIOS Class 10/12 certificates are equally valid as any CBSE/ICSE/StateBoard certificates, for all purposes. Specifically, NIOS students can appear for CET, IIT-Main/Advanced, IISER, etc etc and join any college/university for undergraduate, just like PUC/CBSE/ICSE students.

Excellent overall information about NIOS is available on the website of Mangalore’s leading IIT coaching centre CFAL, click here.

NIOS provides its own study material to its students, arranges for practicals for Science subjects at its study centres, has a student contact program at its study centres, etc. So NIOS gives its students everything required to write the NIOS Board Exams without need for attending a college or coaching classes.

Admission details for NIOS are available on their website here. There is plenty of time left for admissions for NIOS, until September.

Why do you emphasise your regular coaching so much?

Answer:

Because it is difficult to train students in two days per week if they are spending the remaining five days in a different environment where the education methodology is different.

Where will your classes be conducted?

Answer:

Bangalore South (Jayanagar area) and
Bangalore North (Devanahali area)

Subject to sufficient number of students registering for these areas.

Fill up your Pre-Applications Form by clicking here if you want to indicate your preference for one of these areas!

When will your classes start? What will be the timings?

Answer:

Regular and weekend classes for class 11 girl students are planned to start in July 2018. We are planning to hold classes from roughly 8AM to 3PM (this will be modified based on student requirements).

E-learning software is planned to be available to our students by June 1, 2018, for class 11 students.
